Artist Biography
Eithne McGuigan is an Irish artist who works primarily in oil paint, drawing inspiration from Irish landscapes and nature. Her work captures more than just the world around us, it celebrates nature’s beauty and it’s power to stir emotion, awaken memories and connect us to something greater.
Her expressive, impasto technique and bold, vibrant palette give her paintings a distinctive sense of movement and depth. Through a dream-like lens, Eithne creates immersive landscapes that invite the viewer to momentarily escape from the everyday and into a space of wonder and emotional resonance.
Working on canvas or paper, she begins each piece with a gestural sketch before applying oil paint with a palette knife. This approach enables her to build rich textures and dynamic compositions, enhancing the sensory experience for the viewer. The tactile quality of her work encourages personal reflection, allowing each viewer to connect their own memories and experiences to the piece.
Eithne’s practice explores the interplay between colour, form, texture and emotions; creating a body of work that not only depicts nature but also invites connection with our own sense of place and feelings.
